๐Ÿ“Creative Science Lessons from My Internship - Lesson Plans & Worksheets

Introduction:-

As part of my B.Ed. internship, I had the opportunity to teach science lessons and design interactive worksheets for students in Class 6 and Class 8.
In this blog post, I am excited to share two of my lesson plans and their corresponding student worksheets:

•Phases of the Moon (Class 8)
•Conductors and Insulators (Class 6)

1. Lesson Plan: Phases of the Moon

Class: 8
Subject: Science
Topic: Phases of the Moon
Method: Activity-based using models


Objectives:

• Identify and name the different phases of the moon

• Explain why the moon appears differently each night

• Demonstrate the moon phases using a simple model

Brief Description:

I started the lesson with a simple question: "Have you noticed that the moon doesn't look the same every night?"

Then, using a torch (as the Sun) and a ball (as the Moon), I demonstrated how sunlight creates different phases. Students observed each position and confidently named the phases.

Student Response:

Students were excited and curious. They could relate it to their everyday sky observations and asked many questions. 


My Reflection:

This was a successful lesson as students grasped a complex concept through a simple activity.
Real-life observation made their learning experience memorable.

2 Worksheet: Phases of the Moon

Objective:

To revise and assess students' understanding of the moon phases.

Type of Activity:

Puzzle-based worksheet (crossword  )

Instructions Given:

• Complete the puzzle by naming the correct phases

Students were eager and enthusiastic to solve the puzzle.

It helped them revise the topic in a fun and engaging way.


3 Lesson Plan: Conductors and Insulators

Class: 6
Subject: Science
Topic: Conductors and Insulators of Electricity
Method: Hands-on activity

Objectives:


• Define conductors and insulators

• Classify materials based on their ability to conduct electricity

• Test objects using a simple electric circuit

Brief Description:

I began by asking: "Do all objects allow electricity to pass through them?"
Then, using a circuit setup with battery + wire + bulb, I tested materials like:

• Coin
• Rubber band
• Pencil
• Metal key

+ Learning Aids Used:

• Battery

• Wires

• Bulb

• Common objects (wood, plastic, metal)

Students loved this practical demonstration!
They were very involved and curious to try each object and guess the outcome.

My Reflection:

This was a great example of interactive and hands-on learning.
Students clearly understood the difference between conductors and insulators.


4 Worksheet: Conductors and Insulators

Objective:

To check understanding of which materials are conductors and which are insulators.

Type of Activity:

Tick-the-item worksheet

Instructions Given:

Tick the objects that allow electricity to pass
• X Cross the objects that do not allow electricity to pass

Students completed it with accuracy and speed.
The activity helped reinforce their learning from the demo.

Designing these lesson plans and worksheets gave me deep insight into making science fun and understandable. With activity-based learning, students became more involved , confident,and interested in the subject.l look forward to exploring more creative and hands on approaches in my future classrooms!
